My Complaint about Dynamic Popup Generator – a review by Father Dave

I’ve been a fan of Dynamic Popup Generator (hereafter ‘DPG‘) since it first burst onto the scene some years ago. If you look at the DPG sales page, you’ll probably see my picture there somewhere alongside my recommendation. You won’t find me recommending many Internet Marketing products like this for one simple reason: most of them, from my perspective, aren’t worth recommending. DPG is an exception.

It might seem odd that I’m recommending this product, when I’ve actually got a popup creation package of my own that I‘ve been selling (see here). But the truth is though that Michael Hopkins’ program goes well beyond anything I’ve got in my package, though I still think my bundle has a lot to offer.

This is not to say that I have no criticisms of DPG either. Indeed, I have one major criticism that I’ll outline below. Even so, let me give you the positives first, so as to put my criticism in context.

What I like most about this program:

  • It’s got a clean, easy-to-use interface
  • It gives you the ability to create a vast array of different popup types. You can manage standard popups, exit popups, unblockable dhtml popups, popups that slide in, fade in,
roll in, and do just about anything else you can imagine a popup can do.

With DPG version 3 these options have actually increased! You can make your popups in all sorts of different shapes and sizes, and you can then rotate them in a sequence if you like.

Michael has even built in a sort of ‘backup popup mechanism’ in DPG v.3 that really had me shaking my head. You can set up to run a regular popup on a page, but if it turns out that the end-user has a popup-blocker installed, your page will automatically activate an alternative unblockable DHTML popup in its place!

The one other I really must commend Michael for with the entire DPG series is the way in which he has stood behind the product ever since it was developed.

If you’ve been in the Internet Marketing game for any length of time, you’ll have discovered that the vast majority of marketers are selling stuff that they did not create and which, in many cases, they are barely familiar with!

Maybe it’s because I like to push the envelope a bit with the programs I buy, but I almost always find bugs with new software that comes on the market, and I quickly find myself trying to make contact the guy who sold it to me.

In many cases, you never reach the guy on the sales page. Sometimes you don’t reach anybody! Once, when I did finally get a reply, it was from an outsourced company that not only didn’t understand the product, but where the ‘technician’ I had been assigned couldn’t speak English!

I can’t even remember the problem I had with DPG version 1 when it first came out, but what I do remember was that Michael was swift in his replies, attentive to my issues, and thorough in his solutions. That’s how we became friends. But I don’t think I was receiving special treatment reserved for clergy. I think Michael was thorough and attentive chiefly because the software is his own creation and he takes pride in his work.

OK. They are my three things I love about the program:

  • Highly flexible
  • Easy to use
  • Great after-sales service

Now for my gripe: DPG has never included all of my favourite types of popup! And even though DPG 3 has expanded on the range of popups on offer, it still doesn’t include some of my personal favourites!

The ones I’m thinking of specifically are the graphical type, where instead of seeing a computer-generated square, you see a notepad with handwriting on it – that sort of thing. Can you create these in DPG3? No.

Another sort of popup that I love is the ‘scroll popup’, where the popup only comes up if the visitor has scrolled through most of the sales page (see my book page if you want an example). Can you create scroll popups in DPG3? No.

DPG3 is the most comprehensive popup creator on the market, but the truth is that it is still not completely comprehensive. To be a complete popup master, you really need both DPG3 and the sort of package I offer, which includes the aforementioned favourites.

But STOP! I’m not trying to sell you my package. On the contrary, because I like Michael and love his software, I figured I’d offer to give you my package if you buy a copy of his through my link. Is that fair or what?

Here’s the deal:

  • Click here to buy your copy of Dynamic Popup Generator version 3
  • Send me an email and attach your receipt.
  • I’ll send you a copy of my popup pack to supplement DPG.

Please note that you must order DPG through my link to get my package as a bonus. If you’ve been looking at the DPG sales page already, you might even need to clear your cookies first in order to make sure I get credit for your purchase. That shouldn’t be too tough, and it’s a small price to pay to become one of the masters of the popup universe!
